Hailing from Minneapolis, Hutchins and Moore began collaborating in 2013, creating solo and chamber concert works. As this collaboration evolved, the results became increasingly improvisatory and technologically interactive. The musical vocabulary that developed as a result of this co-performer/co-composer exploration became the basis for Binary Canary. Hutchins performs on tenor, and baritone saxophones, bass clarinet, and no-input mixer. Moore performs on laptop (live processing done with Supercollider) and amplified trumpet.

Ted Moore is a composer, sound designer, and music educator living in Minneapolis. Ted’s work focuses on live electronic processing with live performers using the digital signal processing programming language SuperCollider. His music has been premiered by Spektral Quartet (Chicago), Yarn/Wire (NYC), AVIDduo (Dallas), Firebird Ensemble (Boston), RenegadeEnsemble (MSP), and the Enkidu Quartet (MSP), and has been performed across the country . He has taught music in a variety of capacities and is a member of Spitting Image Collective, a composer collective that enriches the contemporary music community of Minneapolis-St. Paul.

American saxophonist Jeffery Kyle Hutchins is a soloist, chamber musician, improviser, and performance artist focusing on the promotion and creation of contemporary music and interdisciplinary media. He has premiered over 65 new works for the saxophone, many of which were written specifically for him. Hutchins has performed recitals and presented masterclasses in Asia, Europe, and North America. He has recorded on Avid Sound Records, Emeritus Records, Farpoint Recordings and Klavier Records. Hutchins is Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at Bemidji State University and Adjunct Instructor at the University of Northern Iowa
